For those we support, it's all about building their capacity to exercise freedom, choice and control. We work alongside each participant as advocates - to help them maximise and implement all the supports in their plan including informal, mainstream, community, formal and funded supports.
In response to increased demand from our clients and the needs of our community, Focal is looking for exceptional Support Workers who have extensive experience in Child Safety, PBSPs, Mental Health and Palliative Care to work closely with our clients and their families. About you
Reliable | Motivated | Passion for empowering others
To be eligible for this role you must have a MINIMUM qualification of Certificate IV in Individual Support or Mental Health and/or AT LEAST 2 years experience dealing with clients who have PBSPs or complex high medical needs. We have a large number of clients to assist and will require good availability. Open to overnight shifts as well a plus.
Enrolled nurses / university students studying Paramedicine, Psychology, Mental Health, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work are welcome. Advanced qualifications in a relevant field is highly regarded.
For this specific role, it is ESSENTIAL that you have:
Minimum 2 years' experience working with or have knowledge of PBSPs, Autism Spectrum Disorder/Asperger’s, Severe Trauma, ADHD, Epilepsy
Certificate Quals in Mental Health or Individual Support
Experience with PEG Feeding, Stoma, Tracheostomy & Seizure Management
Good physical fitness - ability to lift up to 20kg and handle hoists
Excellent mental resilience
Valid Australian Driver’s Licence along with a comprehensively insured vehicle
Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
Blue Card & Yellow / NDIS Worker Screening Clearance Card
MAYBO / CPI training highly regarded
Strong work ethic and good reliability
Casual and permanent part-time opportunities available depending on client match
