Disability Support Worker

**Job description**
We are seeking dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our Ipswich team. The position will work in a dynamic environment, providing an integrated and flexible model of care to our participants. This care can involve in-home care, complex high intensity care, community access and/or companionship.
The role provides experience in direct client care, flexible working hours, an inclusive and vibrant community, training and professional development and a rewarding career. This is a causal position that provides flexible shifts that can work around your schedule.
**Your main duties**:
- Provide physical support, which may include helping participants with household tasks, meal preparation and meal assistance.
- Social support, including accompanying participants to appointments, and engaging in social activities.
- Assistance with personal care: showering, grooming and medication assistance.
- Encouraging and supporting the development of a participant’s personal interests through hobbies and community activities.
- Liaising with a team of specialists to assist the participant in following routines and recommendations as part of their therapy.
To be considered you must have the following **skills and attributes**:
- Caring and compassionate attitude
- Responsible and respectful towards participants, their families and other support workers
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team within a diverse community
- Good organisation and time management skills
- Fluent in English and other languages are welcome
- Previous experience in the community sector or working with people with a disability preferred
- Willingness to travel to participant's homes across Ipswich

**Salary**: $35.00 - $72.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
