Quantitative Data Scientist – Asset Management

We are thrilled to partner with a distinguished and award-winning fund manager that operates with excellence across Multi Strategy and Single Strategy Funds. This prestigious firm is seeking an experienced and innovative Quantitative Data Scientist to join their team in either Auckland or Sydney. This newly created role is a direct result of the firm’s ongoing growth and commitment to enhancing their investment processes through cutting-edge AI and quantitative methodologies.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement advanced quantitative models and data-driven strategies to enhance portfolio performance and investment decision-making.
- Integrate the latest AI technologies and methodologies to refine the investment process and contribute to the firm’s strategic objectives.
- Create and standardize processes to add value to the investment processes, focusing on AI application, research efficiencies, and developing internal tools.
- Analyze and process data to improve systems and efficiencies within the investment team, including building internal dashboards and data cleansing sets.
- Collaborate with investment professionals to leverage macro insights and fundamental research, applying quantitative techniques to drive investment ideas and opportunities.
- Work closely with the performance and risk team, and report to senior leadership, including the CIO.
- Use Bloomberg and other industry tools to support data analysis and enhance investment decision-making.
Key Requirements:
- 7- 10+ years of experience in a senior analyst or VP-level role, preferably within the finance or investment industry.
- Expertise in AI techniques, machine learning, and quantitative analysis.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar.
- Strong experience in market-facing roles, with the ability to work with themes and indicators.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement standardized processes to improve investment systems and efficiencies.
- Self-directed, self-motivated, and able to hit the ground running with a tactical approach.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in building internal dashboards and data cleansing sets.
- Experience with Bloomberg and familiarity with industry brokers.
- Team player who can collaborate effectively with the investment team while bringing innovative solutions.
