Supporting either our A380 and A350 Airbus fleets, the Ground Operations Instructor provides technical and practical training for pilots within the Qantas Group and customer airlines. The training covers all operational procedures, performance calculations, and technical aspects to ensure pilots are qualified to perform their duties in accordance with company standard operating procedures, as well as with aircraft manufacturer and CASA requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have the following experience, qualifications and skills:

  • Technical expertise in aircraft systems, performance, loading and standard operating procedures
  • Experience as a pilot to CPL standard or higher, or an aircraft engineering background to LAME standard or equivalent
  • Experience in, or exposure to, multi-crew flight operations
  • Experience operating fly-by-wire Airbus aircraft
  • A degree qualification (preferably aviation-related), or equivalent industry qualifications
  • A high standard of interpersonal skills and an ability to manage and interact with the broader Flight Operations community
  • Flexibility and sensitivity when dealing with different viewpoints, styles and cultures, and an ability to embrace and promote diversity in line with our Qantas values
  • A high level of computer skills in software applications such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and deliver training in a range of environments e.g. classroom with both large and small numbers of trainees, flight training devices, and simulators
  • Demonstrated ability to provide accurate assessment of trainees against competency standards and record these results in a Qantas Flight Training database
  • A commitment to engage in improving training course ware and processes.
  • This role will be supervising Ground Training Operations and thus oversee functions including correct rostering, planning and classroom allocations
