About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech Therapist to join our team in a regional public hospital in Southern New South Wales. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of patients both within the hospital setting and the wider community. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality speech therapy services to individuals of all ages, helping them overcome communication and swallowing disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to diagnose speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
  • Provide therapy and counseling to patients and their families to support their communication and swallowing abilities.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, psychologists, and occupational therapists, to deliver holistic patient care.
  • Participate in community outreach programs, including running workshops and support groups.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Contribute to the training and supervision of junior staff and speech therapy students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Speech Pathology from a recognised university.
  • Current membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) and a valid practicing certificate.
  • Experience in a clinical setting, preferably within a hospital environment.
  • Strong knowledge of speech and language disorders, treatment methods, and therapeutic techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel for community outreach activities.
