The Role

As Family Liaison Officer you will provide school-based and outreach support services, including counselling, advocacy, provision of information, and skills development, to children and their families with complex needs who are who are at risk of entering the Child Protection Statutory System.

This position requires staff to work in compliance with the Human Services Quality Framework and the Child Protection Act 1999. Staff are also required to adhere to the Society’s Child Protection Framework at all times.

This is a Permanent PART-TIME Position 22.8 hours per week role based in Ipswich

To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in the Social Sciences, Social Work, or similar community services field
  • Minimum 2 years’ industry experience working within a similar position
  • Experience in developing and delivering comprehensive individual and group programs to support children and their families who are at risk of entering the Child Protection Statutory System
  • Experience in working with at-risk children, young people, and families, who are subject to child protection statutory interventions
  • Ability in working within boundaries and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs
  • Effective communication and time management skills
  • Demonstrate genuine respect for all people regardless of their situation
  • Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
  • The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Blue Card
  • COVID-19 vaccination status is recommended for this role but not a mandatory requirement.
