About the Team
The Fraud Fusion Taskforce and Integrity Capability team is dedicated to improving payment integrity across government programs by combating fraud and criminal activity, including serious organised crime and systemic fraud. We facilitate intelligence sharing and collaboration with law enforcement and regulatory agencies to enhance response efforts. The Intelligence and Analytics Branch manages and optimises data and information relevant to integrity, including intelligence products, risk vulnerability registers, and fraud case management data. The team is also responsible for handling tip-offs and referrals concerning integrity issues.

About the Role
As an APS6 Fraud Intelligence Analyst, you will operate under limited direction to undertake complex work guided by legislation, policies, procedures, standards, methodologies, and precedents. This role involves reasonable autonomy and accountability, requiring the exercise of initiative and judgment to interpret legislation and policy, applying practices and procedures to achieve outcomes within the functions.

  • Contributing to the development, planning, and production of financial intelligence outputs and outcomes.
  • Utilising a Certificate IV in Government (Investigation), or its equivalent, to support the planning and production of financial intelligence outputs and outcomes.
  • Conducting fraud assessments and producing financial intelligence reports for complex matters from the collection, evaluation, and analysis of information.
  • Leading tactical intelligence projects through the development of collection plans, assigning tasks, analysing financial and other information, and articulating findings.
  • Complying with all relevant legislation, policy, and guidelines for the management of information and the use of ICT systems and tools.
  • Contributing to the development of business rules, refinements, and suggested avenues of analysis and investigation.
  • Producing financial intelligence products within set timeframes in compliance with legislative, policy, and information security frameworks.
  • Maintaining accurate files and records in relation to business decisions and intelligence activities and functions, contributing to reporting requirements.
  • Providing ongoing intelligence support for matters referred for investigation.

About you
To thrive in this role, you need:

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to analyse various forms of information to form a conclusion
  • Attention to detail in written and verbal communication
  • Fraud intelligence and/or regulatory experience
  • Knowledge of the scheme and participant risk
  • Ability to use Agency customer record systems
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations is desirable
  • Be able to pass and hold a national police check and worker screening check.
  • Must be an Australian Citizen.
