About the opportunity

These permanent, full-time positions are available for skilled and enthusiastic team members who will ensure that a high standard of animal housing presentation and animal welfare are maintained within our Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC).

You will will focus on enhancing our image as a customer service provider and ensuring that animals held are treated humanely in accordance with accepted standards, codes, Acts, and regulations. 

Your roster will include fortnightly weekend shifts and a rostered day off. Ideal candidates must have training in fear free animal care and understands 'Getting to Zero' for animal management. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Relevant qualifications in an appropriate field
  • Significant experience in handling companion animals
  • Current class “C” driver’s licence.

Desirable:

  • Qualified microchip implanter
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of animal care and welfare issues
  • Computer literate in basic office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to drive a manual vehicle
  • Experience in handling livestock.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,112.32 per week
  • 38-hour working week
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
