Springvale, Australia Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust Full time

About Us

We create extraordinary experiences. We create memories, we take care of our shared heritage. This means careers where we have to innovate and always push for better, and where your perspective is always valued. This is a world where we bring together our love for the natural environment and our care for one another to make a real difference. This is a world where you'll discover something new, every day.

The Role:

As the Diversity, Inclusion and Employee Experience Advisor at SMCT, you'll play an important role in ensuring we consciously shape our culture to support our new 5-year organisational strategy, embed our refreshed Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and implement the foundations of our newly created 3-year Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategy. Reporting directly to the Manager Diversity, Inclusion and Employee Experience, you will enjoy managing multiple priorities and having a hands-on role as you build a legacy, improving the workplace experience for over 350 employees.

Key activities you'll be heavily involved in within the next 12 months include:

  • Co-ordinating the People Matter (inclusion and engagement) and Culture surveys, maximising participation, analysing results and co-creating action plans with leaders where improvement is required;
  • Assisting with the roll out of the new DEI strategy, including implementation of initiatives;
  • Creating regular reports to monitor and measure progress on:
    • Diversity
    • Gender Impact Assessment completion
    • Gender Equality Action Plan initiatives
    • Employer branding efforts;
  • Leading and supporting key stakeholders with completing Gender Impact Assessments and Gender Equality Action Plan initiatives;
  • Developing a transition-to-retirement program to support our older workforce
  • Continuing to embed our refreshed EVP in the employee lifecycle;
  • Working with internal stakeholders to promote SMCT's employer brand internally and externally and;
  • Co-ordinating the awareness and/or celebration of days of significance in the DEI calendar.

About you:

We're looking for someone with the following:

  • A passion for employee experience (EVP, Employer branding, and employee engagement) and diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • Proven ability of success in implementing company-wide strategic initiatives;
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to populate reports and analyse data;
  • Proactive and collaborative approach to brainstorming and problem solving; and
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to gain the confidence and cooperation of employees, managers and other stakeholders to facilitate positive outcomes.

Equitable solutions are important to us. This role is a hybrid working role.

While it does require someone who can work 37 hours per week due to the number of initiatives planned over the next few years, we are open to hours being worked over 4 days rather than the standard 5 days, or another mutually suitable arrangement if required.

What's on offer?

We offer a fulfilling career with exceptional personal and professional growth opportunities, along with a comprehensive range of benefits:

  • Access to career development programs to foster professional growth and advancement.
  • Employee Health, Wellbeing, and Assistance Programs, including complimentary onsite Osteopath services, skin checks, and flu shots.
  • A supportive and people-centric culture within a purpose-driven organisation.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Immediate access to unpaid parental leave and a short waiting period of only three months for paid parental leave, applicable to both full-time and part-time employees.
  • The opportunity to purchase additional annual leave.

SMCT is an equal opportunity employer, a Diversity Council Australia Member and are proudly endorsed by WORK180, in our ongoing commitment to raising workplace standards for all.

We care for our colleagues and the community we serve. To protect one another it is a requirement that all successful candidates complete background checks, including proof of COVID vaccinations.

If you have any access requirements to fully participate in our recruitment process, please contact recruitment@smct.org.au.
