About the job

As the Senior Engineer, Standards, you will:

  • Lead technical governance development/update processes, ensuring SA Water’s standards provide best for business solutions while being cost-effective and fit for purpose.
  • Have a local and national presence in engaging with industry, supplier, partners and peer utilities to bring innovations, improvements and support to delivering our on our strategy and sustainability commitments
  • Make an impact across our business and industry through managing our authorised products, ensuring they deliver reliable, safe and cost effective outcomes.
  • Be on the leading edge of developments and improvements to SA Water’s technical governance, and work with subject matter experts across multiple engineering disciplines to bring these innovations to life.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

  • Prioritising safety and wellbeing, contributing to WHS performance, and ensuring compliance with the Sustainability in Design process
  • Collaborating across technical disciplines and supporting a knowledge-sharing culture
  • Leading initiatives to improve safety, asset quality, and community outcomes
  • Identifying internal knowledge gaps and engaging with business partners to deliver improvements
  • Supporting the assessment and accreditation of consultants and superintendents, leading performance management activities.
  • Contributing to the development of an efficient national water industry and aligning SA Water with industry best practices
  • Overseeing continuous improvement of Engineering’s systems and processes
  • Writing comprehensive reports and technical documentation.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • A professional engineering qualification (B.Eng.) in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in engineering design, design review, and development of infrastructure standards, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive, curious, and tenacious approach
  • Proficiency in technical writing and preparing professional reports
  • Previous experience in managing contractors and consultants
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Knowledge of Water Industry codes, standards, and processes is desirable
