Role Description/Criteria

The Student Wellbeing and MHiPS Leader facilitates the development of a common understanding, consistent approach and shared commitment to wellbeing in Catholic Schools.

Together with a Core Team, the Student Wellbeing Leader is responsible for:

WELLBEING

  • Driving the implementation of the Berry Street Model (BSM) across the school
  • Introducing and embedding Restorative Practices across the school
  • Overseeing the planning and implementation of SEL lessons using Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships
  • Providing day-to-day support in relation to student wellbeing as current issues emerge
  • Facilitating Year 6 transition to Secondary School
  • Development of Student Leaders and SRC each year, coordinating regular meetings and Social Justice Initiatives 

Mental Health in Primary School (MHiPs)

  • Undertaking MHiPs training modules (as required) and participation in network cluster 
  • Building the capacity of school staff to identify and support students with mental health concerns
  • Supporting the school to create clear referral pathways and connect to local services for students identified as needing further assessment and intervention
  • Coordinating targeted mental health support for students by working with school staff, school community members and external agencies

Family Partnerships

  • Liaising with and supporting families on a needs basis as required
  • Improving the connection between the school and local community agencies
