The role

As a result of parental leave we are seeking an experienced Learning Enhancement Teacher to join our well-regarded team of caring professionals who seek to ensure the individual learning needs of our students are met. This opportunity is a 12-month contract that will commence in Term 4 2024. 

The Secondary School Learning Enhancement Teacher – Literacy reports to the Head of Learning Enhancement. This role works closely with the Learning Enhancement Staff, Heads of School, Deputy Heads of School, Heads of Learning Area, Stage and Subject Co-ordinators, Director of Boarding and teaching staff within the College.

As part of the Learning Enhancement Department this position will provide Literacy support for those students in the Secondary School (Years 7 - 12) identified with specific learning needs.

  • Possess appropriate teaching qualifications and registration with NESA
  • Qualifications in Special Education and experience with supporting students with Literacy needs (7-12)
  • A sound knowledge of current theory and practice in Special Education  
  • Understand the academic and pastoral needs of students as these relate to the learning outcomes
  • The ability to develop positive and professional relationships with staff
  • Willingness to liaise closely with key academic and pastoral staff to enhance student outcomes
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • A willingness to participate in ongoing professional learning
  • Experience and interest in the use of Information Technology in working with students with learning needs
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement 
  • Willingness to actively participate in the College’s coaching program and culture 
  • Ability to demonstrate professional conduct and discretion at all times
