The Sustainability Managerwill work with the Head of Sustainability to lead the development and implementation of Helia’s Sustainability Strategy.

This is a hands-on and varied role, responsible for supporting the environmental, social and governance (ESG) projects and initiatives that will ensure long-term sustainable value for our business, customers and the wider community.

Whilst we would prefer some ESG related experience, if you have strong project management, data governance and communication skills, and a passion for Sustainability, we will support you to develop skills and knowledge in this rapidly evolving field.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract.

Responsibilities

  • Research and monitor sustainability trends, best practice and peer performance, and assess implications for Helia

  • Manage Helia’s scope 1 and 2 emissions inventory collection and reporting and support the development of our scope 3 carbon management plan

  • Develop and maintain ESG governance processes and procedures, ensuring all documentation is kept up to date.

  • Assist with the collection, monitoring and analysis of ESG data to ensure ongoing progress against Helia’s Sustainability commitments and compliance with reporting obligations.

  • Contribute to the preparation and publication of our annual Sustainability Report, including coordinating external assurance over ESG related data.

  • Experience in developing, managing, monitoring and reporting in internal and external data sources for our Sustainability and ESG reporting & communications.

  • Contribute to the delivery of Sustainability projects and support the wider Risk function to ensure ESG is integrated within the team and across the business.

Qualifications

  • You have at least 5-8 years general work experience with around 3 years’ experience in relevant Sustainability, project management or data governance work in a corporate environment

  • Good understanding of current ESG risks, issues and trends in Australia and globally

  • Knowledge of ESG frameworks such as the Task Force on Climate-Related Disclosures, GHG Protocol and the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards highly regarded

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Demonstrated project management experience

  • High proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Bachelors degree in Sustainability, Business or a relevant field
