We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project.

To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.

Are you passionate about Politics and International Relations? La Trobe University’s Department of Politics, Media, and Philosophy invites you to apply for a full-time Lecturer position (Level B) in Politics and International Relations at our Melbourne (Bundoora) campus.

About the Role:
In this teaching-focused role, you’ll contribute to the delivery of our comprehensive Politics and International Relations curriculum. With a focus on innovative, evidence-based approaches, you will engage students through lectures, tutorials, and workshops in both online and face-to-face settings. You’ll also have the opportunity to help design and develop subject curricula, enhancing the student experience with creative learning methods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality learning experiences for students in subjects like POL1AUP: Introduction to Politics and core Politics subjects.
• Develop and review subject content, including online and blended formats.
• Provide constructive feedback, evaluate learning outcomes, and contribute to assessment tasks.

Essential Criteria:

• PhD in Politics, International Relations or another relevant discipline (submitted for examination), preferably with expertise in Australian and comparative politics.
• Proven experience in teaching and curriculum development, with positive feedback from students.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment.
• Familiarity with La Trobe’s LMS, including assessment marking and feedback.
