About this position

As a Community Safety Officer, you will deliver and monitor key safety initiatives, including programs such as Safe City, Community CCTV, Hot Spot Cocooning, Personal Safety Workshops, and Constable Care. In addition, you will collaborate with community groups, residents, and service providers to assess and deliver safety programs that meet local needs.

This role involves managing the City's response to CCTV data requests, developing risk management plans, and promoting community safety education. Good leadership is important, as you will supervise staff, manage budgets, and evaluate programs to enhance community engagement.

What we are looking for

To be successful you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of community safety principles and crime prevention, with proven experience delivering community-based initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with community members, stakeholders and service providers
  • Leadership and teamwork abilities to manage staff and volunteers
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate risk management plans
  • Commitment to community engagement, with the skills to assess and enhance safety programs

Essential requirements

  • Current driver's licence.
  • Working with Children Check
  • First Aid
  • Current Police Clearance (less than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

Desirable requirements

  • Degree in Criminology, Public / Community Safety or related field and/or substantial experience in Community Safety or related field
