About the program
Clients are referred to the GP Assist Clinician when the General Practitioner determines that the client requires more intensive, specialised support regarding their drug and alcohol issues. The role will work with clients through a screening and assessment process to develop a seamless referral pathway into appropriate mainstream AOD treatment

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated GP Assist Clinician with a 'can do' attitude and an innovative approach to helping people recover from addictions.
This is a part time position reporting to the FMP Manager, designed to support improved access to existing AOD services. The role will work alongside another Clinician to educate General Practitioners (GP's) about AOD issues and treatment.
The role provides short to medium term support and brief interventions with a focus on Motivational Interviewing, harm minimisation, fostering rapport and relationships with key professionals until an Individual Treatment Plan is developed.
Who we are looking for
This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinician to join the Family Services team in Frankston. Ideally, you will have:
- at least 12 months experience in a case management / counselling role in an AOD service.
- relevant qualifications in an allied health discipline such as psychology, mental health social work, mental health nursing or occupational therapy will be highly regarded.
- proven experience in the provision of assessment and counselling services with AOD or dual diagnosis clients and knowledge of harm minimisation,
- client-centred care and recovery-focused principles.
- a positive can-do attitude,
- ability to implement strategies and interventions maximising the client's capacity to seamlessly access the services they need.
