Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor opportunity

  • Approx. $65-$70 per hour plus Super dependent on experience

About the role

Government client seeks an experienced Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor to join them on a short-term assignment for a duration of up to a period of 2 months based in Melbourne CBD with an immediate start. As the Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor, you will develop and execute communications plans and campaigns to support key projects and initiatives. You will provide quality advice and support to leaders, internal stakeholders, partners and project owners by developing effective communications including content and timing for key initiatives, campaigns, events, speeches, and direct communications.

Key duties

Reporting directly into the Campaigns Manager, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering communication plans and campaigns (including events) to meet quality standards and timelines.
  • Identifying and developing communications to support the delivery of strategic projects and campaigns and priorities relevant to target audiences.
  • Writing news stories, features articles and other media-related communications for both online and print publications.
  • Provide expert and specialist advice on external campaigns, marketing and engagement activities ensuring a coordinated approach to communication.
  • Effectively communication skills and constructively manage stakeholder issues to sound outcomes.

Experience and Skills

The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:

  • Expertise in developing integrated communications and campaigns strategies to effectively reach target audience and achieve objectives.
  • Proven experience developing and leading end-to-end implementation and delivery of external communications strategies, plans, and events.
  • Proven ability to use project management, negotiating and influencing skills to facilitate decision-making and reach agreements in a highly sensitive and complex environment.
  • Excellent strategic planning skills with the ability to prioritise effectively, set goals and high standards of performance.
  • Experience in improving and developing staff with proven ability to actively and collaboratively contribute to a high-performing communications team which delivers outstanding results.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant field e.g. Communications, Community Engagement, Stakeholder Management, or a related discipline.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience working within government organisations.
