Job Description

Lead a team of engineers to ensure the delivery of high-quality platform services supporting Symbio’s global business units. You will oversee Symbio’s strategic use of public cloud resources, managing the lifecycle, capacity, cost control, and operational health of various platform services across both public and private cloud environments (including Kubernetes and Kafka).

Your focus will be on driving infrastructure automation to achieve resilient and reproducible deployments across development and production settings. You will spearhead initiatives within your team to promote modern engineering practices across all technology teams. Collaboration with Delivery, Software, and other Infrastructure teams will be crucial in delivering systems and services, as well as ensuring we understand the health of our systems at any point in time to reduce outages.

After hours support
There is an expectation that this role is part of the teams after hours support roster (level 3), which is rotated weekly for production critical platforms. We also understand that we as a team need to do everything we can to ensure resilient and self healing platforms and engineering leadership will provide the time to make sure we do.

Qualifications

What you'll need to succeed:

  •  Up to 7 years of hands-on experience in Cloud, Platform, and DevOps roles.
  • More than 2 years of leadership experience managing engineering teams.
  • Extensive expertise in AWS, including VPCs, Networking, IAM, and other core shared components.
  • Valuable proficiency in public cloud cost management and reporting (FinOps).
  • Desired familiarity with Azure, VMware, and other cloud platforms, both public and private.
  • Deep experience in building and managing Kubernetes clusters.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux system administration.
  • Skilled in Terraform, CloudFormation, and similar automation tools.
  • Demonstrated success in systems and network design and development.
  • Holds a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or possesses equivalent extensive relevant experience.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry would be advantageous.
