Why Your Role Matters

:
‘Following a high-level review, the leadership at UNSW has endorsed a series of critical initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery of the university’s academic calendar. The Senior Business Analyst, Academic Calendar will meticulously analyse and outline requirements and functionalities necessary for the Academic Calendar, ensuring alignment with the diverse current and future needs of the University. This pivotal role will play a crucial part in the university's decision-making process regarding the adoption of a preferred academic calendar moving forward. It will prioritise preserving the advantageous elements of the current calendar while effectively addressing areas earmarked for improvement.

Responsibilities include spearheading business analysis activities for "In Scope" programs aimed at facilitating sustainable organisational, procedural, and strategic changes. Key tasks encompass conducting needs analysis, gathering business requirements, data mapping, devising solution designs, and delineating current and future business processes. Additionally, the role involves facilitating workshops, supporting the Program Director, and ensuring project deadlines are met.

Reporting directly to the Program Director, Academic Calendar, the Senior Business Analyst, Academic Calendar does not manage any direct reports.

Skills and Experience Summary:

A degree with relevant work experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certified Practitioner in Business Analysis (IIBA or PMP). Demonstrated experience with business requirements analysis and business process analysis using the appropriate frameworks. Experience identifying and mapping ‘As Is’ and creating ‘To Be’ business processes. Demonstrated experience in applying Lean Six Sigma skills - Certification desirable. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proven facilitation skills (workshops with diverse groups including vendor, technical personnel and end users). Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills to critically evaluate information and data gathered from multiple sources. Strong time management and organisational skills to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and deliver according to project timeframes. Knowledge and understanding of business processes within a tertiary education environment. Knowledge and understanding of change management principles. Sound consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
