Job Overview:

As a Clinical Occupational Therapist, you'll conduct in-depth assessments and develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patients' specific needs and goals. You'll work closely with patients in our clinic, implementing a variety of therapeutic interventions to improve their functional abilities and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients' functional abilities and limitations, focusing on physical, cognitive, and emotional factors.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practice to address patients' specific needs and goals, focusing on maximizing their independence in daily activities.
  • Utilize a variety of therapeutic interventions, including exercises, activity adaptations, splinting, and assistive technology, to improve patients' strength, mobility, coordination, and cognitive functions.
  • Educate patients and their families on self-management strategies, adaptive techniques, and the use of assistive equipment to enhance daily functioning and independence.
  • Regularly evaluate and document patients' progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, physical therapists, and speech therapists, to provide holistic care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and reports for insurance or legal purposes.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in occupational therapy through continuing education and participation in relevant conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Valid AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a relevant setting (e.g., pediatrics, geriatrics, neurological conditions).
  • Strong clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and families.
  • Proficiency in using occupational therapy assessment tools and documentation practices.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in a specialized area of occupational therapy.
  • Experience with functional assessment and assistive technology.
  • Strong commitment to evidence-based practice.
