Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Casual Student Success Partner (Retention) (multiple positions available) to join Learning and Teaching Unit, Education Portfolio, Academic Division.

The Student Success Partner (Retention) provides timely, relevant and proactive assistance to student peers through inclusive front-line support to connect students to relevant services, and learning engagement campaigns, delivered online and by telephone.As a key member of the Student Retention team, the position works in close partnership with the Career, STEM and Language and Learning Educators and Student Success Coaches in support of Student Success and Teaching Advancement objectives.

About the Learning and Teaching Unit
The Learning and Teaching Unit (LTU) is committed to a culture of collaboration, working in partnership with students, industry representatives, and staff across QUT to meet the evolving needs of our learners. Guided by our Real World Learning Vision, LTU leads and coordinates learning and teaching across QUT, leveraging existing initiatives and enabling new ways of thinking and working that are learner-centric and future-focused. The Student Success and Teaching Advancement (SSTA) teams work in partnership with faculties and divisions to deliver a connected and impactful student experience. This is achieved through the provision of university wide learning, careers and retention support services and strategies, and building an engaged community of innovative academic practice and learner focused educational delivery using scholarly and data informed approaches. SSTA is a large section within LTU employing more than 120 academic, professional and sessional staff, and student partners.

Remuneration 

The classification for this position is Higher Education Worker Level 3 (HEW3) which has a casual hourly rate range of $40.92 to $45.52 (inclusive of 25% casual loading), plus superannuation.

The position will be located at Kelvin Grove campus.

What you need to succeed

  1. A current QUT student who has successfully completed at least the first year of their undergraduate degree (96 credit points with a minimum GPA of 4.0) and has at least 96 credit points remaining, or postgraduate students who have previously completed a degree.
  2. Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively via telephone and online and to be inclusive, empathetic and respectful in delivering services.
  3. Demonstrated experience working with students or others from diverse cultural backgrounds and academic experiences, and an understanding of the issues that affect adult learners.
  4. Demonstrated ability to use initiative and work effectively in a diverse team environment under general supervision.
  5. Competent computer and information literacy skills, including the ability to work across systems, understand and effectively manage data records.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of the rules of ethical conduct related to student data and ability to act in accordance with those rules and to maintain strict confidentiality.
