Our client is a leading Retail Bank with a growing presence in the Australian market. An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Manager, Financial Control to join its Sydney office on a permanent basis. 

You will be responsible for;

  • Manage a small team preparing financial reporting documents, the accurate month end close process, and the control framework to ensure an accurate and timely close of the general ledger. This role will also lead projects to simplify and automate processes and take responsibility for providing quality data to key internal and external stakeholders.
    • Accurate and timely month-end close process and implementation of an appropriate control framework e.g. account reconciliations and manual journal entries;
    • Delivery of financial reporting and controls management activities 
    • Provide quality control for financial statements and ensure compliance with accounting reporting requirements;
    • Oversee local Regulatory Reporting Requirements
    • Take a proactive approach to month end close and drive change by providing data and insights in a timely manner to the Business Partners; 
    • Provide leadership, develop, recruit and manage a small team with demonstrated capability
    You will possess; 
    • Around 8 - 10 years experience; Big 4 trained CA / CPA with a proven track record in the monthly close process and controls in Financial Services 
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with managing situations where “influencing” and practical outcomes are paramount to achieving success
    • Strong business acumen in order to converse competently with senior management and boards / committees on complex financial and accounting issues.
    • Self-motivated individual who displays a “can-do” pro-active style and desire to provide excellent service to customers
    • Proven track record in managing small Finance teams, with experience in the preparation of statutory accounts.
    • Knowledge of Accounting Standards
    • Full Australian working rights, fluent English skills
