Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in our country, with the population of Greater Parramatta alone set to climb by 50 per cent by 2041 and at Great River City Light Rail we want to create new communities, connect great places and help locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. The new Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, spanning 12 kilometres and utilising state-of-the-art vehicles that delivers comfortable, user-friendly and high-performance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of light rail stops.

The role

Reporting to the Civil and Track Supervisor you will be responsible for civil infrastructure maintenance activities namely architecture property, civil and structures for the network. This will include planned preventive maintenance, inspection, reactive repairs related to asset failures. In addition, you will be responding to emergencies and carrying our Asset Inspections to ensure they are fit for service. There will also be an opportunity to provide input to the testing and commissioning teams and developing training documentation and supporting the delivery of the training.

What you bring

In addition to your certification III in Rail Infrastructure or Mechanical/Civil Trade your background will include demonstration experience working as a Civil Infrastructure Maintainer. Your high-level problem-solving skills will allow you to manage difficult situations including responding to emergencies and restoring assets after incidents. This will be supported by the ability carry out asset inspections and undertake fault finding and ensure asset reliability. Equally important is the ability to engage and build effective working relationships both internally and externally.
