About the program

Calvary Bruce Private Hospital runs the Calvary OnePlus Graduate Nurse Transition Program (GNTP), a national program that supports the individual in developing principles of clinical practice that promote the transference of knowledge, skills and behaviour for life-long learning. Through support and reflection, the program will empower the individual to make well-informed evidence-based decisions throughout their career. This twelve month practice-based program enables graduates to learn the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes in a supportive environment in a variety of clinical settings throughout the organisation.

The GNTP is in keeping with Calvary’s values of Hospitality, Healing, Stewardship and Respect. In practice Calvary recognises the worth of the individual, acknowledges talents and skills by providing support, education and mentoring to foster an atmosphere of ’Being for Others’.

Our program consists of 2 x6 month rotations over the year through medical, surgical wards Periop and mental health wards.  

Important dates:

First day of program: 10th February 2025

Final day of program: 8th February 2026

You will be provided with:

  • A dedicated New Graduate coordinator will support you through the 12 month program
  • 2 Graduate study days
  • Graduate nurse devoted education sessions
  • Supernumerary shifts on each rotation
  • Access to scholarships for post graduate study

What you bring 

Mandatory:

  • Registered as a Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated effective communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilise the Nursing Process in the provision of safe, evidence based nursing care to patients in an acute care environment.
  • Participation in ongoing professional development of self and others.

Your application, addressed to the Graduate Coordinator, will include:

  • Your resume (no more than 3 pages)
  • Your current unofficial transcript with current GPA
  • ANSAT reports with the Clinical Facilitator feedback. If not available, please provide two most recent clinical placement experience assessments.
  • At least two referees with a minimum of one clinical referee. Please note, we will conduct reference checks post interview.
  • A cover letter of no more than 1 page (using Arial size 10 font, standard margins), responding to the following 4 questions. Please provide specific examples to support your claims in your response.
  1. Why you want to participate in the Calvary Oneplus Graduate Nurse Transition Program at CPHB?
  2. How do you ensure your practice is of the highest standard?
  3. Describe a time when you used well developed communication and interpersonal skills to contribute to an effect team
  4. Describe a time in which you were able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care
