The role:

We are looking for individuals who have a commitment to safety and a desire to make a positive difference in our community. As a Swim School Instructor, you will have the opportunity to work across our multi-venue programs and help children and adults learn the lifesaving skill of swimming.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

Effectively deliver swimming lessons in line with Councils Swim School Instructor Manual. Ensure set up and pack up of all equipment is done in a timely and safe manner. Actively participate in Swim School Team Member in house training.

To be successful in this position, you need to:

Demonstrate your ability to swim 25m Freestyle, 25m Backstroke & 25m Breaststroke Demonstrate your ability to teach children in a group class environment. Have excellent verbal communication, organisational and time management skills as well as the ability to provide a great customer experience. Be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. Have a current Working With Children Check Clearance number. A current Swim Teacher accreditation from Royal Life Saving, Swim Australia, AustSwim or other recognised licence provider. Current CPR certificate COVIDSafe Requirements: Candidates 18yrs of age must have 3 COVID-19 Vaccinations. Candidates under 18yrs of age must have 2 COVID-19 vaccinations and receive the booster upon turning 18. 

Remuneration:

$35p/h + 10.5% super. Penalty rates earned on weekends. Ability to apply for higher hourly pay rate after 12 months of employment.

Successful applicants will be required to undertake a Pre-Employment Medical, which will take place at one of Council's chosen providers and will be conducted at the Council's expense.

Our COVIDSafe Workplace Policy requires all team members to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccination status before commencing employment with Canterbury-Bankstown Council. Council defines up-to-date for any team member over the age of 18, to include having had a third dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine. Team members under the age of 18 are required to have two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine, and in order to comply with Councils COVIDSafe Workplace Policy, will be required to receive the third dose by their 18th birthday. Medical exemptions are only available if you are unable to be vaccinated due to genuine medical contraindications and may be subject to further review.
