About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the CAMHS Elizabeth team as a Speech Pathologist (AHP2) on a Part time (0.4 FTE or 15 hours per week) capacity, on a term contract (up until 26 August 2026).
The CAMHS Speech Pathologist uses expert clinical knowledge, skills and experience to undertake formal and informal communication assessments, make appropriate recommendations to families and clinicians, and build the capacity of a multi-disciplinary team to understand and respond to complex communication needs in children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural concerns.
The provision of assessment, education and short-term intervention is considered essential to care which is directed towards achieving a holistic understanding of a child or adolescent’s presenting concerns and contributing towards improved wellbeing and mental health outcomes. This involves consultation and liaison with other professional disciplines and non-governmental organisations.
Additionally, the CAMHS Speech Pathologist will contribute to the speech pathology profession through participation in speech pathology meetings and strategic goals at a CAMHS state-wide level
About You
To be eligible you must have an appropriate Bachelor or Masters of Speech Pathology or equivalent degree, which gives eligibility for full membership of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia.
To be successful in this role, you will use your:
Demonstrated ability to apply speech pathology skills to understanding and addressing complex communication needs in children and adolescents with mental health concerns. Communication skills and work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and with other agencies and systems. Demonstrated ability to undertake and report on diagnostic communication assessments of a complex nature in relation to children and adolescents experiencing mental health concerns. Previous relevant experience in the practice of speech pathology in assessing and supporting children, adolescents and families presenting with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs.To find out the specifics, including the key selection criteria and special conditions , please go to the attached role description.
