The opportunity 

Our growth has led to an exciting opportunity for a lawyer to work within Deloitte Legal alongside our global, multidisciplinary Climate and Sustainability practice.  We are looking for an energetic individual who is passionate about making a positive impact.

You will work on a mix of advisory and transaction work across the key areas of climate, sustainability, energy, and environment.  This will include climate change and carbon regulation, environmental markets, major project approvals and development, biodiversity and natural capital, water, waste and environmental compliance.

You will be a member of Deloitte’s global multidisciplinary Climate and Sustainability team and be primarily responsible for:

  • Advising on approvals and the development of major capital projects for the energy transition, with a particular focus on renewable and alternative energy projects
  • Advising on the regulation of, and participation in, environmental markets
  • Advising on the development of carbon and biodiversity projects
  • Advising on regulatory compliance and investigations in the areas of environment, climate and sustainability, including climate and sustainability reporting
  • Advising on the circular economy and ESG requirements, as well as ESG regulatory scanning and best practice.

You are someone who:

  • Has two (2) to five (5) years PQE or equivalent gained within a reputable climate or environment practice
  • Has experience advising on one or more of the following:
    • The regulation of and participation in environmental markets
    • The development of carbon and biodiversity projects
    • Renewable and alternative energy
    • Major project approvals, development and compliance
    • Circular economy and ESG requirements
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment
  • Has strong time management and organisational skills
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Has strong academic achievements
  • Is qualified as a legal practitioner within Australia.
