About the Division / Team

Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.

The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.

About the Opportunity

Infrastructure Maintainers carry out the physical work of maintaining ARTC’s rail track, including preventative and reactive maintenance activities, as well as undertaking minor construction for planned capital upgrades. Infrastructure Maintainers undertake general labouring, track maintenance duties, safety protection work, visual inspections of ARTC’s rail track, operating heavy machinery, welding and other maintenance tasks while meeting ARTC standards.

About You

To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Current drivers' licence and proficiency in driving a manual car.
  • Computer exposure - Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Have a strong sense of responsibility and willing to learn.

Desirable 

  • Past or present Rail Industry experience, specifically in track maintenance.
  • A Heavy Rigid Licence or willingness to obtain one.
  • High Risk Licence and experience in operating heavy plant equipment (Excavator, Forklift and Front End Loader are highly desirable).
  • Construction industry induction (white card).
