The Digital Health Department is responsible for enabling clinical staff to deliver timely, quality care to our patients and carers through innovative use of information technologies, and through strategic management of information and data across the organisation.

The Position Summary

Alfred Health is seeking an experienced, organised and proactive IT Technical Specialist to join the EMR team. An exciting and varied position that will help support Alfred CIS system – Cerner, exposing the Specialist to a wide and varied role. Responsibilities include:

  • Data extraction, transformation and reporting
  • Creating and managing scripts in CCL – Cerner command language
  • Developing and managing specialist functions for use in the EMR
  • General support roles and interaction with end users

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Provide business and technical expertise as well as direct support as needed for applications and interfaces.
  • Identification, and resolution of, interfacing and integration-related problems. This will include diagnosis and, where possible, remediation of issues as well as logging issues with vendors and coordination of subsequent issue resolution processes with them.
  • Provide HL7 Consultancy Services.
  • Identify and document requirements for integration-related applications.
  • Design of integration-related applications in accordance with Alfred ITS and HL7 Standards.
  • Production of functional specifications for integration applications, in accordance with Alfred ITS Standards. 
  • Production of overall and detailed Project plans for Integration projects. This includes accurate estimates of the development effort required.
  • Experience in the configuration of HL7 inbound and outbound interfaces in Cerner and Rhapsody
