What you’ll do

The People Data and Insights team aim to be a valued business partner and advisor who understands the business’ strategic direction and needs. Our mission is to make trusted people data accessible and to unlock and provide a deeper insight into what drives better team experience and advocacy, choosing Woolworths as a place to work and a place to shop. 

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your analytical skills to transform raw data into actionable insights that drive business decisions, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify trends, patterns and opportunities.

Working with multiple stakeholders across the Woolworths Group you are/will:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives and problems and suggest data-driven solutions to inform actions
  • Analyse large data sets using statistical and data mining techniques to identify trends and patterns
  • Create clear and compelling visualisations to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Craft narratives that translate complex data into understandable stories that resonate with stakeholders
  • Build persona based, user centric analytical/reporting solutions; through the use of SQL querying logic, Tableau and Looker
  • Manage automated access to reports and dashboards through detailed role-based permissions in GCP/Tableau
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data sources and analysis methodologies
  • Observe data privacy principles, maintain confidentiality and ensure data security
  • Maintain and update documentation including; process; specifications, support documents and testing scripts
  • Build and maintain great working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership

What you’ll bring

  • 5 + years experience with data and reporting, ideally with experience working with people data, or other forms of dynamic data
  • A strategic mindset - ability to transform raw data into actionable business insights, through data storytelling
  • A Degree in Information Technology or relevant discipline
  • Advanced skills in querying, extracting and wrangling data
  • Ideally experience with Google Cloud Platform (Data Storage, Dataprep, BigQuery, Data Studio, Sheets, Slides)
  • Ability to work with large volumes of data with complex definitions
  • Experience in data analysis and insight generation
  • Advanced knowledge and application of table relationships, advanced querying in applications, aggregate queries, macros, and pivot tables
  • Knowledge of Tableau and/or Looker is advantageous
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ideally experience working with HR and payroll systems and data
  • Results oriented and ability to work to tight timeframes
  • An enquiring and questioning mindset and attention to detail
  • A self motivator that has an end-to-end skill set, with a strong technical background and a customer-centric approach 
  • Not required, but advantageous if you have previously worked in an Agile team
