The Manager of Core Provisioning is responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, implementation, and management of Transport telecommunications provisioning projects. This role ensures the efficient end-to-end delivery of engineering services, maintaining high standards of quality and performance. The Manager will collaborate closely with vendors and internal stakeholders, providing technical support to develop solutions, resolve complex issues, and ensure service outcomes align with business needs. A deep understanding of Optus or Operator networks, platforms, and architectures is essential.

Your day in the life as a Manager, Core Provisioning

Lead the end-to-end delivery of Core Transport network services, managing Engineering Orders (EOs) from planning through deployment by engaging third-party expertise and coordinating with various Optus divisions.

Inspire, mentor, and drive a team of network engineers to achieve EO Provisioning objectives, goals, and KPIs through continuous feedback and performance reviews.

Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting professional development, upskilling, and training to align with the business’s technology roadmap and manage skill retention and risks.

Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of provisioning engineering orders, ensuring completion within scope, budget, and timelines.

Provide expert technical guidance and support to the engineering team, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Identify and implement process improvements, enhancing efficiency and quality across provisioning activities.

Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and high levels of stakeholder satisfaction.

Manage relationships with vendors and third-party providers, ensuring they meet project requirements, SLAs, and KPIs.

Optimise CAPEX and OPEX budgets for the EO provisioning department, monitoring expenses while maintaining service quality.

Lead complex fault analysis and resolution for provisioning issues impacting platform services, ensuring minimal disruption and rapid recovery.

Experience required

Degree, Technical Diploma, or equivalent qualifications/experience in Telecommunications

Extensive experience in Telecommunications Transport Core, with a minimum of 7 years in the industry and over 3 years working specifically with Transport Core products

Expertise in provisioning technologies such as Ethernet DWDM, Carrier Ethernet, SDH, MSTN, Juniper, DSL, Cisco, DSLAM, and PDH

Strong problem-solving, coordination, and analytical skills

Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and attention to detail in work

Comfortable managing large volumes of data efficiently

Eager, ambitious, and unafraid to step out of their comfort zone to challenge the status quo and drive innovation

Ability to remain calm, composed, and focused under pressure, maintaining high performance in fast-paced environments

Exemplary interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple concurrent tasks

Highly Desirable

Proficient in provisioning, data fill, and troubleshooting, with hands-on experience using Helix Provisioning Systems
