These are 12-month fixed term contracts across locations Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

About the roles:

The DI Data Product Owner enables realisation of the data vision and requirements for design & build within the Digital Insurer program. The role ensures Data Engineering & Technology (DET) squads within the Digital Insurer program are set up for success by ensuring clear requirements are elicited, documented and provided to the DET squads, and acts as a representative for business stakeholders with knowledge of their respective areas.

The role will work closely with supporting resources such as Business Analytics, developers and technical subject matter experts (SME’s), ensuring the right work is planned and completed at the right time and keeping strong alignment between stakeholder requirements and program imperatives.

The intent of the Digital Insurer program is to enable the business to deliver new products (including modular products), seamless customer experiences, and support delivery of a simpler, digital business. Radical simplification and significant improvement in the speed & cost of change are a critical measure of success of the program, and this role must ensure this lens is applied to both requirements given to, and deliverables produced by delivery teams.

More specifically, you will:

Works with the SMEs to analyse and understand business requirements, and review/produce technical and business specifications.Understands the importance of strategic alignment between business and technology goals and seeks to achieve this in requirements gathering/squad delivery.Supports the discovery and delivery squads with prioritisation of backlog tasks, aligned with business needs and outcomes while understanding constraints and dependencies.Ensuring regulatory and statutory requirements are met as a priority and addresses risks.Prepares materials to ensure effective communication of requirements and/or to explain future changes to the landscape.Resolve blockers quickly and contribute to pro-active planning.Builds rapport with business SMEs to ensure cohesion between the program & business as usual activities.Works with architects and DET teams to ensure that reference and master data roadmaps are consistently updated in line with changing business needs.Drive decisions aligned to the North Star principles which require radical simplification.Understands Suncorp future state data architecture and tooling and drives data transformation, simplification (tooling & Environments) and value for the business.Drive the right outcomes and trade-offs between simplification and business regulatory & business value requirements.Understands impacts of pathway, prioritisation and trade-offs across a complex landscape of business and technology data needs.Ensure critical focus on regulatory business requirements, related to data & reporting, are met through the design & decision-making processes of the program.Supports Data Stewards and Governance roles in ensuring that data maturity standards are upheld.Acts as key conduit between the business and Data & Enterprise Technology fostering a strong sense of collaboration.Models team behaviours to deliver results and support others.Contributes to a team that prospers from diversity of ideas and approach and celebrate inclusivity.Contributes to an environment where safety and wellbeing is prioritised and actioned and people are motivated towards meaningful work and common goals.

About You:

Relevant tertiary qualification (Business, Commerce, Technology) desirable.Significant experience contributing to or preparing business requirements documents.Significant experience working amongst technical teams to communicate requirements and support squads through delivery.Significant experience supporting technical business analysts to translate business requirements to technical, signing off requirements.Significant experience in the Insurance industry with knowledge of corporate operationsExperience developing presentation materials to simplify the message of a technical concept.Some experience collaborating with data & analytics teams with knowledge of Consumer, Commercial or Personal Injury InsuranceSome experience organising & facilitating engagement sessions with stakeholders.Some experience working under momentum model or agile ways of working.Some experience working on data transformation programs.Knowledge of ETL technologies and integration from data warehouses to 3rd party Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) technologies – desirable.

Key Capabilities:

Proficient written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.Proficient relationship and influencing skills.Able to translate and communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.Strong organisation skills to manage a broad range of responsibilities and priorities.Able to form virtual teams & lead projects.Basic ability to investigate and analyse data, to draw conclusions from the findings and to recommend solutions or opportunities for improvement.Advanced skills technical document writing to capture business requirements for example Business Requirements Documents or equivalent.General understanding of project management methodologies, including ability to use project and information management tools, such as JIRA and ConfluenceProficient in understanding data models & their application to business processes.
