Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $96,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Wollongong NSW 2500

Our client SWA Financial Planning is one of the largest non-institutionally owned financial planning firms in the Illawarra and Southern Sydney regions. They are committed to providing their clients with the highest-quality advice and service.

They are currently seeking a Senior Accountant who is suited to contribute to maintaining the integrity and expanding the capability of their accounting information systems.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Introducing and advising the selection and application of computer-based accounting systems.
  • Reconciling bank statements against remuneration statements.
  • Oversee cash flow planning and manage relationships with financial institutions to establish and monitor fund management arrangements.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing tax returns and P&L statements each financial year and
  • Prepare and lodge GST/BAS reconciliations.
  • Assisting in providing financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans and operations.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and evaluate financial risks, developing mitigation strategies where needed.
  • Maintaining and iterating on the development/deployment of accounting information systems specifically focused on complying with Corporations law Part 7.7A relating to ongoing fee disclosures and consents.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience as an accountant/assistant accountant.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting processes & practices.
  • Experience in MYOB.
  • Evidenced high attention to detail, accuracy and experience with reporting and analysis.
  • Advanced IT skills including Microsoft Office. (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel).
  • Experience with leading or assisting with ad-hoc accounting projects and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Corporations Law as it applied to Australian Financial Services Licensees would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in SQL, JavaScript and/or C# would be highly regarded.
  • A problem-solving mindset with a strong ability to efficiently learn and continuously develop your skillset.
