Senior Accountant Job Description

Job Title: Senior Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity and expanding the capability of our accounting information systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and advise on the selection and application of computer-based accounting systems.
  • Reconcile bank statements against remuneration statements and oversee cash flow planning.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions to establish and monitor fund management arrangements.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare tax returns and P&L statements each financial year and lodge GST/BAS reconciliations.
  • Assist in providing financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans, and operations.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and evaluate financial risks, developing mitigation strategies where needed.
  • Maintain and iterate on the development/deployment of accounting information systems specifically focused on complying with Corporations law Part 7.7A relating to ongoing fee disclosures and consents.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum four (4) years' experience as an accountant/assistant accountant.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting processes and practices.
  • Experience in MYOB.
  • Evidenced high attention to detail, accuracy, and experience with reporting and analysis.
  • Advanced IT skills including Microsoft Office (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel).
  • Experience with leading or assisting with ad-hoc accounting projects and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Corporations Law as it applied to Australian Financial Services Licensees would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in SQL, JavaScript, and/or C# would be highly regarded.
  • A problem-solving mindset with a strong ability to efficiently learn and continuously develop your skillset.
