The Opportunity

Catch is currently seeking a Junior Retail Buyer. As the Junior Retail Buyer, you will be responsible for maximizing department sales and increase profitable market share through product selection and sourcing of merchandise

 

What you’ll be doing

What does a normal day in the life of a Junior Retail Buyer look like? Well, no 2 days are alike at Catch, but you could probably expect your day to include some of the following things:

  • Work closely with the Senior Buyer to develop new products/ranges to satisfy customer needs - this includes ranging, core, and trending products.
  • Respond to trends in line with the merchandise strategy and customer needs.
  • Assist with exploring new sourcing opportunities for purchase of merchandise as they arise.
  • In partnership with the Senior Buyer and Planner, manage the promotional plan that will enhance the department sales and profitability whilst ensuring the required deadlines are met.
  • Maintain an honest and ethical relationship with suppliers.
  • Assist with the development of strategic relationships with key suppliers.
  • Assist in maximizing financial outcomes for Catch when dealing with suppliers.
  • Ensure supplier understanding of Catch strategy.

 

The skills you'll have

  • Experience working across multiple sub-categories Experience working across multiple sub-categories. 
  • 1-2 years' experience as a Buying Assistant in either an online or traditional retail environment.
  • Strong numerical ability and analytical skills.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to influence others.
  • Able to multitask and manage conflicting priorities.
  • High attention to detail and solutions-based thinking.
  • Calm under pressure and tight deadlines.
