Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has opened within the Public Transport Authority We are seeking applications from candidates interested in our Communications Maintainer role, where you will assist with the maintenance of a range of communications systems equipment and infrastructure across our urban rail network. This is a great ‘entry level’ opportunity for people to start a career in the rail industry. We also welcome applications from suitably experienced Communications Maintainers wishing to continue their career with one of Australia’s leading public transport providers.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be:

Mechanically minded and able to use a range of tools, machinery and equipment. A good communicator and a team player. Committed to Safety. Keen to learn. Able to work unsociable and irregular work hours, including Saturdays, Sundays and nights as required.

Candidates at every level will be considered for this position. However, the more knowledge and experience you bring with you, the more you will be offered and can include: 

An attractive remuneration package, including 9-day fortnight, rostered days off and work/life balance. A Protection Officer Allowance – upon commencement you will be trained as a Protection Officer where upon attainment of the Protection Officer accreditation you will receive a weekly allowance. Four weeks of annual leave; 13 weeks of long service leave after 10 years then subsequently every 7 years of continuous service. Salary sacrifice options. Free uniforms. There is two full time, permanent positions available for an immediate start. Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months from which permanent and fixed term appointments will be made for this or similar positions.

Please note that your commencement salary/level will be dependent on your skills, competence and experience (as outlined in the attached Work Requirements document). No technical communications maintenance experience is required for appointment as a Trainee Communications Maintainer (REA2).
