Where you'll be working This is an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative program which sits in the Counselling, Violence Prevention and Response team. The Adult Survivors Program is a small team which consists of a Program Lead, Project Manager and two Aboriginal Trauma Clinicians. The successful candidate will be supported through clinical supervision, cultural supervision and links with the SESLHD Aboriginal Health Network. This position is based in Woolloomooloo whilst covering South Eastern Sydney. It will suit individuals interested in provision of community engagement, group work, training and consultancy.
The Role The Adult Survivors Program is a trauma-focused program that provides integrated support and care to adult survivors of child sexual abuse across the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. The program seeks to enhance district-wide service capacity to improve outcomes for adult survivors of child sexual abuse.
The Aboriginal Trauma Clinician will provide culturally appropriate support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and community with the Adult Survivors Program and integrated services across SESLHD. This position will provide high quality and culturally informed advocacy and clinical services for adult survivors of child sexual abuse consistent with NSW Health, SESLHD policies, procedures and standards.
The complexity of this position requires working autonomously, which is supported by flexible work practices required to create meaningful engagement with the Aboriginal community. Cultural guidance and support will be offered through cultural supervision and the SESLHD Aboriginal Health Directorate.

Selection Criteria This is an identified Aboriginal position. (An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 NSW). Relevant qualification in Bachelor of Social Work which provides eligibility for membership to Australian Association of Social Workers or Degree in Psychology with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia or Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV) Aboriginal Pathway Advanced Diploma of Aboriginal Specialist Trauma Counselling. Demonstrated ability to provide culturally informed trauma counselling and care coordination within a violence, abuse and neglect setting. Demonstrated high level understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of child sexual assault and the long-term impact on adults and the impact of intergenerational trauma for families and community. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with Aboriginal communities and commitment to addressing Aboriginal health and community needs. Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work in partnership with others. Demonstrated experience in participation and/or provision of clinical and cultural supervision appropriate with level of experience. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice and a commitment to ongoing clinical and professional development.
