The role of Senior Financial Counsellor is to facilitate best practice to deliver service excellence and meet contractual obligations towards our integrated model across the QLD Financial Resilience, Wellbeing & Recovery programs/s.
Key Responsibilities- Provide supervisory support using reflective practice, mentoring and coaching for financial counsellors working across our multiple programs and modalities
- Provide mentoring to ensure that financial counsellors provide client support across the continuum of service accountabilities
- Conduct case and file reviews to ensure that financial counsellors are delivering best practice and a high standard of compliance in recording session notes, data, and interventions with clients
- Deliver coaching via individual and groupwork, facilitating a community of practice to ensure that interventions encourage the client's fullest participation and empowerment in planning, goal setting, and decision-making
- Work closely with the program coordinators, leaders and management, who are responsible for the delivery of the programs and staff management in alignment with the contractual obligations, to ensure that financial counsellors are delivering professional services. Assist and support with performance development of the team
- Manage a proportional caseload of clients together with community development activities, including periodic representation at community partner, stakeholder and sector events.
- Other responsibilities as directed in alignment with the role purpose.
- Demonstrated application of coaching and mentoring skills to uplift performance of others
- Strong commitment to and capacity for teamwork, collaboration, and networking
- Clear and effective communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills and the ability to mentor others to develop or enhance these skills
- Commitment to the use of supervision, reflective practice, client and colleague feedback, and professional development to continually improve your own and the practice of others
- Demonstrated quality financial counselling casework and coordination of service delivery from early intervention, crisis, and recovery
- Understanding of an integrated service model of financial wellbeing to meet the service user where they are at.
- Qualification in Financial Counselling (Diploma in Financial Counselling) ESSENTIAL
- Eligibility for registration with relevant state Financial Counselling peak body
- Demonstrated knowledge of the financial and credit industries and their relevant governing legislation, and the community services sector
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring and providing supervisory support to financial counsellor team members in case consultations, facilitating group community of practice discussions and conducting quality file reviews.
