Head of Finance - Insurance

A high-impact leadership role with a global insurance business at the forefront of regulatory, tax, and financial reporting.

About the Role

We are seeking a Head of Finance to lead financial operations and ensure compliance across APRA prudential regulation, tax, and international accounting standards within our dynamic Australian branch.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all APRA prudential regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with Australian financial services regulations
  • Oversee IFRS 17 and IFRS 16 journal entries, reconciliations, and system integrations
  • Manage tax obligations including provision, returns, and audits (Income Tax, CbC, DTA, etc.)
  • Partner with actuaries, auditors, and consultants to deliver accurate, timely statutory reports
  • Review financial statements, manage treasury, and support business planning
  • Provide leadership and oversight to a collaborative finance team
  • Contribute to ongoing process optimisation and ERP (Workday) system enhancements
What We're Looking For:
  • CA/CPA qualified with a degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in financial services or insurance sector
  • Solid experience in AUSGAAP, USGAAP, and IFRS 17 (AASB 17)
  • Proven track record in tax reporting and liaising with regulatory bodies
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with Workday (bonus)
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement abilities
