Chief Executive Officer / Head of Marketing
We're Hiring: CEO (with Marketing focus)
Writers Victoria, a literary member-owned not-for-profit organisation, is seeking an experienced and visionary
Chief Executive Officer
to lead our small team and shape our future. The role includes being Head of Marketing.
Reporting directly to the Board, this combined CEO and Marketing role is central to driving membership growth, visibility, financial sustainability, philanthropic support and engagement with the broader literary community.
What you'll do
Lead and deliver Writers Victoria's marketing and business development initiatives.
Grow awareness, membership, and workshop participation among Victoria's diverse writers.
Build and strengthen partnerships with government, funding bodies, sponsors, and other literary organisations.
Oversee marketing and communications across digital, media, and public platforms.
Manage grant applications, fundraising initiatives, and stakeholder relationships.
Lead, mentor, and support a small but passionate team delivering workshops, member services (mentoring and manuscript reviews) and community engagement programs.
About you
You have demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, and business development within the arts, literary, or not-for-profit sectors and are seeking to move into a management role. You bring:
Expertise in marketing, including digital platforms, audience development, and communication.
A track record of stakeholder engagement, sponsorship, and fundraising.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in amplifying our 2,000 Victorian writers member voices and driving the long-term growth of a highly respected arts organisation. Following a recent organisational restructure that set Writers Victoria on an upward trajectory, this position offers the chance to lead a small, dedicated team through an exciting period of growth.
