Job Description

**Your opportunity to join our team**
We are looking for a hands-on, reliable, and motivated **Hatchery Assistant** to join our dedicated team. Based at our Hatchery in McKees Hill, you will be involved in the day-to-day operations that support the successful incubation and hatching of chicks.

This role also offers a unique opportunity for someone with a mechanical or maintenance interest to be **trained in basic maintenance tasks** and work alongside our current Maintenance Officer to support the smooth running of our equipment and systems.

**Daily Tasks**
- General hatchery duties including egg setting, chick handling, and cleaning
- Monitoring hatch timings and ensuring optimal animal welfare practices
- Operating machinery and assisting with equipment setup and changeovers
- Assisting the Maintenance Officer with minor repairs and preventative maintenance (if applicable)
- Working in a temperature-controlled environment
- Full-time hours with early starts (generally between 4am-5am), Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work as required
- PPE and training provided

**You will bring to this role**
- A strong work ethic and reliability - this is a hands-on role
- Ability to work early morning shifts and commit to a set roster
- A willingness to learn and follow strict biosecurity and animal welfare protocols
- Basic mechanical aptitude or a willingness to be trained in maintenance tasks
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Previous experience in poultry, farming, or hatchery environments is a bonus, but not essential
