Operational Excellence in Aquaculture

We invite you to drive operational excellence at our Rookwood Salmon Hatchery as Assistant Manager. You will lead a team of 15+ staff to achieve strategic targets, maintain our license to operate, and foster relationships across freshwater operations and the community.

This full-time role combines hands-on leadership with strategic planning, requiring flexibility for overnight shifts and occasional weekends.

  • Supervise hatchery and farm activities, including feed ordering, record-keeping, and salmon stock management.
  • Mentor staff, delegate tasks, and step up in the absence of the Manager.
  • Optimise flow-through, RAS, and incubation systems for peak performance.
  • Uphold a safety-first culture and regulatory standards.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to meet targets.
  • Use Microsoft Office and other tools to track and report on operations.
Requirements:
  • Aquaculture hatchery background with extensive experience and a minimum of 2 years in a Team Leader/Supervisor (or higher) role.
  • Proficiency in flow-through/RAS systems, stock management, and hatchery protocols.
  • Confidence guiding teams and making decisions in the Manager's absence.
  • Passion for fostering a zero-harm workplace.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, data systems).
  • Willingness for overnight shifts and occasional weekends.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Driver's licence.
