**Lived Experience Worker (Carer) - Hospital Outreach Post-Suicide Engagement (HOPE) Team**
- The role of the Lived Experience Worker (Carer) has been developed for people who have firsthand experience in providing care for a family member or close relationship with mental health challenges. The purpose of this position is to acknowledge the critical role of family/carers in recovery as well as the importance of linking family/carers into support for themselves. The Lived Experience Worker (Carer) will identify support needs as well as providing emotional and practical support.
- The HOPE team actively engage clients in the assessment of their own suicide risk and actively contribute to their suicide prevention plan in order to minimize the risk of attempting suicide in the future. The HOPE team will work in a manner that encourages and invites consumer and family participation and promotes self
- determination. The Lived Experience Worker (Carer) will work collaboratively with the HOPE team and other members of the Lived Experience Workforce across Mercy Mental Health, to engage and provide support through a range of mediums which includes outreach, telehealth and site-based work.
- Permanent Part-time Role (0.5 EFT - onsite).
- Based at Werribee Mercy Hospital.

**ABOUT YOU**:
- Current unrestricted driver's license
- Experience as carer of a mental health consumer
- Qualification, working towards, or willing to work towards peer specific training (i.e. Intentional Peer Support)
- Training in other relevant mental health and suicide specific areas.

- Mercy Mental Health (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.
