**About the Role**
The National Health and Safety Manager plays a key role in delivering Arcare's work, health and safety and early intervention and injury management program. This includes working with key stakeholders, both internal and external, regulatory authorities and influencing to enable safety to be integrated in core business operations. The role is responsible for managing and leading a small team that is based across, Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales and reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer. As a senior manager, the role is also required to contribute to the work of the broader HR Team
**Skills and Experience**
- Minimum 10 years' experience in health and safety management in organisations with broad risk profiles, and preferable in Aged Care or Healthcare environment.
- Highly developed working knowledge of work health and safety matters, legislation and systematic safety management processes nationally.
- Demonstrated high level capability and case management skills and proven effectiveness to secure positive outcomes in early intervention and rehabilitation matters.
- A strategic and systems focus and the ability to innovate and manage complex projects to successful completion.
- Strong communication skills and a proven capacity to develop and manage relationships with stakeholders and across business areas, engaging and collaborating to achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.
- A positive and professional leadership approach, sound judgment, and the resilience and skills to adapt to change
- Current Drivers Licence and own comprehensively insured vehicle as travel is required
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**
- Lead development, implementation and review of Arcare's work, health and safety management and rehabilitation management system frameworks to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and monitor the WHS Improvement Plan and annual programs to continually improve the effectiveness.
- Develop and implement early intervention programs and case management to assist rehabilitation and return to work, in collaboration with Managers and external providers.
- Build the capability of the business to ensure sustained and continual improvement in WHS and injury management.
- Manage incidents and ensure appropriate analysis and effective mitigation/prevention of re occurrence.
- Monitor and analyse WHS data, identify trends, merging issues and improvement opportunities and produce reports on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Lead, coach and manage the H&S Team to produce quality outcomes.
- Manage the WHS budget in accordance with the Commonwealth government financial management protocols.
- Represent Arcare to internal and external stakeholders including agencies and WHS Network.
- Contribute to the work of the broader HR team and make a corporate contribution as required.
