About the position
We are seeking a full-time Payroll Manager to join our HQ team
The Payroll Manager is responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll across Cullen Jewellery\'s international workforce, spanning Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, with scope to expand into new markets. By managing complex payroll processes, statutory obligations, and cross-border compliance, this role safeguards employee trust, supports financial governance, and enables the company\'s global growth.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of fortnightly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery across Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, with scope to expand into new markets.
Handle complex payroll requirements, including allowances, overtime, and finalisation of employee accounts.
Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and contractual requirements across multiple modern awards and classifications.
Manage PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and other statutory deductions in a timely manner.
Oversee and maintain WorkCover and other Worker\'s Insurance documentation, registration, payroll updates, claim submissions, and communication with insurers for all Cullen locations.
Conduct regular payroll audits and ensure employee leave balances and entitlements are accurate.
Complete month-end and year-end payroll-related financial processes.
Partner with People & Culture (P&C) and Finance to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Generate monthly HR and payroll reports, along with ad hoc analytical insights for senior leadership.
Partner with P&C and Finance to resolve payroll issues and maintain governance standards.
Lead payroll audits and liaise with external auditors as required.
Respond to payroll queries with professionalism and discretion.
Keep up to date with legislative and regulatory changes impacting payroll.
What we are seeking
Minimum 5 years\' experience in end-to-end payroll management.
Previous experience in Global payroll markets (strongly preferred but not required).
Strong ability to interpret and apply Fair Work awards, agreements, and relevant legislation.
Advanced proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and accuracy in financial data management.
Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholder collaboration, who openly offers valuable feedback, and raises opportunities for improvement when needed to achieve the best outcomes.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently manage responsibilities.
Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond to changing work demands.
Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
Previous experience in the Retail Industry and knowledge of the GRIA 2020 (strongly preferred but not required).
Experience navigating HRIS/Payroll systems such as Rippling.
