**Job Description - Medical Receptionist**
We are a practice with a personel touch. We would welcome a well presented, hardworking, reliable, flexible, punctual medical receptionist, who is warm, empathetic, and friendly especially towards elderly patients.
**Essential Criteria**:

- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development

- Experience working as a receptionist or similar role in the past or experience working in a team
- Ability to use own initiative
- Demonstrated commitment to quality patient service
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Open and Close clinic as per set procedure
- Greet patients and other callers in a professional and courteous manner
- Ensure the front desk is attended to at all times during operating hours, organise cover if you need to leave the desk
- Acknowledge and receive all incoming patients and process their details to the computer software.
- Manage patient expectations in terms of waiting times and inform of delays
- Make appointments for patients
- Accurate storage and retrieval of patient and practice records with appropriate scanning, faxing and uploading of all documents.
- Check and update patient information on patient's medical records, NOK / alternative contact information must be documented.
- Ensure GP referral letters are up to date for the claims.
- Advise patients on billing policies, complete bulk billing procedures, process payments and receipts, follow up on bad debts
- Organise Specialist referrals
- Manage daily incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, type and upload all relevant documents.
- Ensure medical records are managed confidentially and efficiently
- Deal with referring doctors, hospital staff, pharmacists etc courteously and helpfully
- Attend to patient enquiries, answer all telephone calls promptly in a professional and courteous manner, attend to the messages left from previous days and pass on any messages promptly to the appropriate person
- Photocopying, routine cleaning and stocking tasks.
- Keep work areas and consultation rooms tidy and in an orderly fashion including the clean-up of spills if necessary.
- Preparation of specialist consulting / clinic rooms. Ensure documents in consultation rooms are photocopied and filled in, ensure sufficient storage of required paperwork.
- At all times maintain the confidentiality of patient personal and financial information.
- Complete recalls.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the medical centre.
- Typing of letters and reports as requested
- Flexible to do any work-related ad-hoc or miscellaneous jobs as requested
- Experience using medical software is desirable.
having a Current Working with Children clearance and Current First Aid/CPR certificate are suggested
