Miami State School provides the highest quality education to students from Prep to Year 6. Our school community believes in creating a nurturing and safe learning culture to engage children's natural curiosity, where children enjoy their education, build friendships and achieve their best.
Our Performing Arts program is extremely popular and highly successful, with students participating in a range of vocal, instrumental, dance and cheer programs. All students from Prep to Year 6 have Music lessons taught by a specialist Music teacher each term throughout the year.
There are several school productions and performances throughout the year for students of different ages and are highly professional in production. There has always been a major strength in choir and ensembles and this has now been complemented by an increasingly popular dance and cheerleading program. The continued development of our outstanding co-curricular Performing Arts Department is a key aspect of the role of Director of Performing Arts.
In addition to the responsibilities for a teacher, the responsibilities for the Performing Arts Director include:

- Coordinating and developing a full range of co-curricular Performing Arts opportunities
- Ensuring regular, high-quality Performing Arts performances
- Leading Department meetings, ensuring a focus on improving student outcomes
- Leading enteries into Regional competitions and Eisteddfod
- Source music for and conduct choirs
- Management of music budget

**Required Experience**:

- Demonstrated experience as a Primary Classroom Music Teacher.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and conducting choirs and musicals
- Demonstrated experience in leading whole school productions (for example, Christmas Carols concert)
