Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:In partnership with the Australia Defence Force, we are seeking aChef on a Casual basisto join us at the RAAF WilliamsDefence base inLaverton, located in the Western suburbs of Melbourne.Your previous hospitality experience, strong work ethic and willingness to learn will hold you in good stead.
This is a hands-on role where you will be required to work in the kitchen as well as undertaking administrative duties.This role is currently offering anywhere from 10-15 hours per week across Monday to Sunday with opportunity for more hours when required.Chef duties may include:Support the Head Chef with daily mess operations and food service, including routine meals, in-flight rations, field rations and mess functionsOperating large-volume cooking equipmentEnsure all areas of the kitchen are clean, sanitised and presentable at all times.Support and participate in the implementation and management Ventia's Food Safety Program.Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, and barbeques.Participate in regular stock take and inventory control activities.Skills and Experience:Commercial Cookery Certificate III, or above (or equivalent)Experience in a large commercial kitchenAbility to work well both within a team and on own initiativeAbility to adapt to changing demands to meet needs, especially at busy timesAble to think on feet and act quickly upon instructionGreat attitude towards work and a wanting to learn the role and environment quicklyDiversityVentia is enriched by the diverse experiences, talents and cultures that our people bring to the organisation, while celebrating and respecting the communities we operate in.
