About us
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role
The Remote Hearing Support Service will provide support to the either the Sunshine and Werribee Courts or the Latrobe Valley and Bairnsdale Courts. The roles will require on site attendance at a specified location on remote hearing listing days or supporting applicants with online participation. The Remote Hearing Practitioner will contribute to the implementation and delivery of the RHSS at a local level by supporting affected family members to participate in their court matters remotely or from an alternate location to the court. Part of the role will be building strong relationships with local justice and community agencies in the region to identify alternate locations from which applicants can participate in hearings.
As an MCV family violence practitioner the role will also provide non-legal information and support, risk assessment and safety planning including referrals to appropriate support services. This role will include a focus on engaging with the local community sector to deliver training and support in navigating the court process to improve integrated service responses to family violence.

- You want to be part of shaping and implementing a new initiative as part of the Magistrates' Courts Family Violence Reform
