**Employment Opportunity**

Our Departmental Security Unit (DSU) provides interesting and diverse security services to the department nationally.

**Personnel Security** - services such as delivering security training and briefings, facilitating the onboarding security screening and security clearance processes, and tasks including developing and maintaining the department's insider threat management program.

**Communication Intelligence Security Officer (COMSO)** - services which include facilitating compartmental briefings and managing the department's Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF).

**Physical Security** - including managing the department's security zones, security containers and shredders, guarding services, and ensuring the ongoing functionality and maintenance of the department's technical security capability.

**Policy development and maintenance** - DSU also has responsibility for developing policies and processes that meet the standards outlined in the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and other best practice guidelines.

DSU's functions are underpinned by establishing effective partnerships and ongoing liaison with employees, stakeholders and partner agencies. Key duties of the Assistant Agency Security Advisor include:

- Leading a small team in delivering the department's security services and contributing to a wide range of operational security matters
- Promoting a positive security and risk culture to ensure employees value and protect Australian Government and departmental resources
- Providing advice to a broad range of stakeholders on security policies and procedures in line with the PSPF, including senior executives and business areas
- Identifying and reporting on emerging security issues, incidents and trends, providing suggested solutions where applicable
- Undertaking security assessments and documenting and communicating the outcomes to relevant stakeholders
- Preparing briefings and presenting at a range of forums
- Managing security incidents and conducting, facilitating or assisting security investigations.

Previous security experience is desirable, but not essential.
